3/06/2006: LETTER from Sen Bingaman on Illegal Immigration

Friday 2-17-2006 LEGISLATIVE ROUNDUP: The phased minimum-wage bill failed at the last minute when the Senate did not vote to accept the version approved by the conference committee after the House passed a slightly different version than the Senate. The only anti-corruption bill that passed was SB344, which prevents contractors from making campaign contributions, but ONLY during the actual bidding process. SB 216, "Katie's law," did pass after a provision involving juveniles was removed. SB 295, requiring paper ballots, passed. The bill that proposed a constitutional amendment to pay the legislators a salary never made it out of committee. For a more extensive list of passed and failed bills, go to SUMMARY.

2-14-2006: Governor Richardson was in Alamogordo to speak at the welcoming of a new business, Precheck, to the community. The company considered several states when deciding to open a 'backup' branch of their Houston-based operation after Hurricane Rita. New Mexico was the only state where the Governor personally welcomed them. Read the Alamogordo Daily News article here.

1-8-2006: Holloman not receiving Federal Impact Funds. Read the Alamogordo Daily News article here.
