Douglas Matthew (Doug) Post was born in Alexandria, Virginia, a suburb
of Washington, D.C., on January 20, 1959. Doug grew up in and around
the Washington beltway and the Pentagon during stimulating, exciting,
and changing, turbulent times through the 1960's.
Doug's late father, Ken Post, worked in airline maintenance; then with
the federal government in this, and other jobs. Ken Post also served in
both WWII and Korea.
Mom (Evelyn Post of Alamogordo for over last 40+ years) worked at the
Pentagon for the Department of Defense, personnel services for the U.S.
Air Force, and later in other areas of federal and state government.
She also taught school and worked as an editor. Evelyn has been an
active Democrat her entire life.
Doug Post has two older brothers, Jeff and Steve, and a younger sister,
Aline Brockett.
Doug and family moved West from Washington, first to San Antonio, and
then to Alamogordo in when Doug was in third grade. He went through
school in Alamogordo Public Schools, graduating in 1977 from Alamogordo
High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communications/Journalism in 1982 and worked in various media and public
relations; and Master of Business Administration from New Mexico State
University in 1985. He taught at NMSU in Business, Marketing, and
Management.
Post went on to pursue post-graduate Ph.D. work at Colorado State
University, where he served as an administrator in local colleges and
school districts, worked several years as an employee relations manager
for Hewlett-Packard Company, as Training Manager for Management
Information Systems for ConAgra Corp., and ran his own business
development and planning business. He is currently teaching for the
Alamogordo Public Schools, and is active in various community groups and
activities.
Doug has two children, a son, Justin of Los Angeles, and daughter,
Lindsay in college in Colorado, where he spent several years working in
industry and education, and raising his family. Mr. Post has served in
elected capacities and appointed positions in community and economic
development and as Chairman of a Northern Colorado parks and recreation
district.
He is running for State Representative for Alamogordo because he feels
compelled by people in the community and his own desires to work with
and serve the needs of the city, county and state he lives and works in
the community he lives in and loves.
